Our Daily Bread Employment Center

Stable Work | Stable Home | Better Life

The Our Daily Bread Employment Center building on Fallsway in Baltimore

The Our Daily Bread Employment Center improves the lives of people in need by providing resources to help them achieve self-sufficiency through employment and housing. As Baltimore’s comprehensive resource center for people who are poor, we combine the Our Daily Bread hot meal program, Christopher Place Employment Academy, re-entry services, case management, and an array of unemployment, education, referral and emergency services.

In Fiscal Year 2009 Our Daily Bread Employment Center:

Served 267,397 meals to individuals and families, averaging 733 people per day

Served breakfast to 27,114 senior citizens, persons with disabilities and residents of emergency shelters

Provided 126 formerly homeless men with job skills training, employment and independent living assistance

Placed 430 clients in jobs with an average wage of $9.25

Secured housing for 418 clients.

“Since 1981, Catholic Charities has compassionately fed people at Our Daily Bread, and since 1997 has also helped formerly homeless men become self-sufficient through the Christopher Place Employment Academy. We believe we can and should do more. At Our Daily Bread Employment Center, we can now build on these programs and offer many other services to enable people to become employed, obtain benefits and attain stable housing for themselves and their families.” Mary Anne O’Donnell, Division Director of Community Services.
